This week I want to introduce you to another technique that will help you combat worry and strengthen your attention.
You can do this by practicing mindfulness, which is basically the practice of being in the present moment.
One way you can practice doing this exercise without adding one more thing to your to do list is to practice mindfulness while you are attending to your day to day tasks.
You know the ones you more than likely do on autopilot without giving it much thought, such as ironing, washing dishes, folding clothes.
Next time you find yourself doing these tasks I challenge you to practice keeping your mind focus on what you are doing.
You can use your senses to keep you anchored.
Think about what the activity feels like? What are you noticing? What sounds do you hear? What smells? What flavors?
If you find that your mind has wandered, no need to get upset just gently bring it back to the task at hand.
As with any skill the more you practice the better you will become at it, and before you know it you will have strengthen your attention.
So give it a try and see how it goes!
