According to Chapman, we have five ways we express and receive love. They consist of:

* Words of Affirmation

* Quality Time

* Receiving Gifts

* Acts of Service

* Physical Touch

He mentioned that the only way to keep our ”love tank” filled is by receiving love based on our primary love language.

For the example, if my primary love language is Acts of Service and my partner likes to give me gifts as a way of expressing his love. No matter how many gifts he gives me my ”love tank” isn't filled.

The gifts are appreciated but until he speaks my love language and does something for me, I will not feel loved.

Being aware of your own personal love language is definitely an important tool to have whether you are married or single.
